CPT-299 Rust Converter

The SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter utilizes CPT™ Technology (Corrosion Preventative Technology). This is a highly charged and durable migrational molecule that has the ability to penetrate and travel through a wide variety of mediums in order to find and bond with all types of metal. The CPT molecule needs to fulfill its ionic attraction by bonding with either ferrous or non-ferrous metal. Once the CPT molecule has found metal it creates a highly durable, resilient and robust chemical bond. This bond provides extensive protection for long periods of time in very harsh environments. The SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter is a water-based primer recommended for application to rusty or poorly prepared steel surfaces where further corrosion protection is required and good surface preparation is difficult to achieve. SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter is formulated to penetrate rust, eliminate rust, penetrate to the bare metal and stop further rusting. SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter allows the CPT molecule to penetrate and modify the surface rust into a hydrophobic passive layer. SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter combines the above-mentioned technology with a waterborne moisture displacing resin with extremely low water vapor permeability. SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter does not contain tannic, phosphoric acids or any heavy metals and is low VOC and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, it provides corrosion protection for poorly prepared substrates, and can be top-coated with no bleeding whatsoever.

CPT-299 is recommended for use on all steel surfaces as a rust converter. The product can be used in situations where proper cleaning or sandblasting is difficult.  It is recommended that any loose rust be removed with a wire brush and the rusty steel surface washed with high-pressure water to remove excess salt contamination. Brush, roll or spray CPT-299 with no surface show-through at 3-5 mils (75-125 microns) wet film thickness. Brush, roll or spray application is preferred to ensure penetration into the rust. The coating can be applied to dry or damp surfaces. A second coat should be applied within 20-30 minutes after the first application to ensure maximum protection. Allow to dry for 8-12 hours before applying a topcoat.

Packaging & Storage

SEI Corrosion Proof Rust Converter is available in 1-gallon jugs, 5-gallon plastic containers and 55-gallon metal drums. Keep product from freezing. The shelf life of the coating is one year.
